Mark your place!

I'm on the Some Odd Girl blog today sharing my bookmarks.  I am a HUGE reader, I often have two books going at one time, one up stairs, and one down.  Even though I do read digitally too, I still have the need for good ole fashion bookmarks.

This features digi stamp Demure, and was colored with Copic markers.

This features Reading Tia, and was colored with Prismacolor pencils.

Some Fur with Prismacolor pencils!

I like to color fur with Prismacolor pencils so I decided to share a close up of how I do it.  First you need to start with an image from Some Odd Girl or another stamp company.

This is Coffee Cat Digi Stamp from Some Odd Girl, printed onto X-press it paper.  Yes, that is a Copic paper but I like to use pencil on it to sometimes.

I start with my Warm Gray 20% and coloring in small circles lay down the color for all of her fur.  I like the tiny circle technique, but that doesn't me it's right for you.

I have switched to Warm Gray 30% and I'm going to start to work in some features using this.  You can see I am starting to work on her nose area.

Next I have started to work in the deep shadows using  Warm Gray 70%.

After adding in the darker color her fur takes on more depth and the coloring is starting to look better.

To make my Warm Gray 70% look better I will use the Prismacolor Colourless pencil. It smooths the colors out so harsh lines between tones look better.

Since I forgot the ears I'm going to do them now with Warm Gray 20% and Deco Pink.

Finished Fur!

When I color with pencils I find I color slowly.  Making the little circular motions takes me more time than flicking with an alcohol marker. You don't get that finished smooth look like you do from alcohol markers so if you want that you better stick to markers.  Personally, I love the look pencils give to fur, all that texture - yummy!

Hope some of my helpful hints work for you!

Welcome the new baby!

Another new digi from Some Odd Girl colored up.  This is digi Baby Bath, and it will be perfect for baby cards...birthday, new baby, as well as scrapbook pages, pocket pages...and you can use it as either a boy or girl.

This was colored using Chameleon pens, and a white gelly roll pen covered with Wink of Stella glitter.  It's hard to see but I wanted the bubbles to have a bit of sparkle.

Chameleon Pen Flower!

I've been having so much fun playing with the Chameleon pen set I got earlier this month for my birthday.  Today I'm excited to share the digi Flower, from Some Odd Girl, that was colored using ONLY 3 Chameleon pens.

Normally I would add more detail but I wanted to share it as is so you can see the red color variations.  I think these pens may become a new favorite for me.  Pens used BR5, RD4, GR2.

Hipster Tom Cat

Playing with my Prismacolor pencils and just finished up the new digi from Some Odd Girl, Hipster Tom Cat.

I like the soft look I get with pencils, especially for animal fur. I colored this on X-press it paper which is very smooth, not much tooth.  But I like how he turned out.  More Hipster Cat projects to come!

This MUCH!

Today I'm sharing a Valentine card I made using another 'new to me' stamp set from Sugar Pea Designs, Foxy Friends.  I colored him using Prismacolor pencils. I intentionally kept the card simple because I thought it would be perfect for a guy.  Not to frilly, just sweet!
